Privacy Policy

PicText - Photo to Text is designed to help you extract text from photos, edit saved text, translate text, and optionally back up your saved records.
Information We Collect
PicText does not require you to create an account and does not collect personal information on our own servers.
The app may access the following data on your device:
- Camera access: Used only when you choose to take a photo for text extraction.
- Photo access: Used only when you choose an image from your device.
- Saved text: Text extracted from photos, edited text, titles, translations, and related note details are stored locally on your device.
- Saved photo previews: If you save a note from a photo, the app may store the used photo inside the app's private storage so the preview remains available.
- Dropbox account access: Used only if you choose to link Dropbox for backup and restore.
How We Use Information
We use your data only to provide app features:
- Extract text from photos
- Let you edit and save extracted text
- Translate text using on-device translation features
- Show saved photo previews
- Back up and restore your saved records using Dropbox, if enabled
Local Storage
Your saved text, translations, and photo preview paths are stored locally on your device. Your saved photo previews may also be stored in the app's private storage.
Dropbox Backup
Dropbox backup is optional.
If you link Dropbox, PicText can upload backups to your Dropbox app folder. Backups may include:
- Saved text and translations
- Note details
- Saved photo previews, if you enable "Include photos"
You can disable photo backup before creating a backup. You can also unlink Dropbox from inside the app.
PicText uses Dropbox only for backup and restore. We do not receive or store your Dropbox files on our own servers.
Camera Permission
PicText requests camera permission so you can take photos for text extraction. The camera is used only when you choose to take a photo. The app does not record video or access the camera in the background.
Internet Access
Internet access may be used for:
- Dropbox backup and restore
- Downloading translation language files when required by the translation service
Data Sharing
We do not sell your data.
Your data is not shared with us. If you use Dropbox backup, your backup files are stored in your Dropbox account and are handled according to Dropbox's own privacy policy.
Data Deletion
You can delete saved notes inside the app. Deleting a note removes its saved text and related stored photo preview from the app where applicable.
You can delete Dropbox backup files from the Dropbox backup screen or directly from your Dropbox account.
Children's Privacy
PicText is not intended to knowingly collect information from children. The app does not include account registration or personal data collection by our servers.
Security
PicText stores app data locally on your device and uses Dropbox authentication when you choose to link Dropbox. Please keep your device and Dropbox account secure.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when app features change. Any updated version should be published with the app or on the privacy policy page used for the app listing.
