App Lock by W3Park Technologies
Overview
App Lock is an Android utility that lets you protect selected apps with a PIN, pattern, or your device's built-in authentication. All core protection features run entirely on your device.
The app displays ads served by Google AdMob. As a result, Google may collect certain device information as described in the Advertising section below.
W3Park Technologies does not sell, rent, or share your personal data. Your PIN, pattern, app selections, and custom lock screen image never leave your device.
Information Stored on Your Device
The following data is processed and stored locally on your device only:
- Protected app list: the apps you choose to lock are saved in the app's local database on your device.
- Installed apps: App Lock reads the names and icons of apps visible in your launcher so you can choose which ones to protect. This list is used locally and is never sent to W3Park Technologies.
- PIN or pattern: your actual PIN or pattern is never stored in readable form. The app saves a cryptographic verifier in Android's secure storage, used only for local authentication.
- Settings: your unlock method, auto-lock timing, theme preference, and other settings are stored locally.
- Custom theme image: if you select a photo for your lock screen, it is copied into the app's private storage on your device and used only there.
Permissions and System Access
App Lock requests only the Android permissions needed to provide its protection features:
- Usage Access: detects when a protected app is opened so App Lock can display the unlock screen. Usage data is processed locally and is not uploaded anywhere.
- Display over other apps: allows the unlock screen to appear on top of a protected app when it is opened.
- Foreground service: keeps protection active while enabled. Android shows a persistent notification while this service is running, as required by the platform.
- Photo access: used only when you choose a custom lock screen background. You select a specific image through Android's standard photo picker. App Lock does not request broad access to your photo library.
- Device authentication: if you enable phone lock support, Android handles your device PIN, password, or biometric confirmation directly. App Lock never receives or stores your device credentials or biometric data.
- Device Administrator (optional): grants uninstall protection when you choose to enable it. This prevents App Lock from being removed without your approval. You can disable it at any time from within App Lock or Android's Device Admin settings before uninstalling.
- Internet access: used by Google AdMob to load and display advertisements. No other app data is transmitted over the internet.
Advertising โ Google AdMob
App Lock uses Google AdMob (provided by Google LLC) to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use the following information to serve ads:
- Your device's advertising ID (Android Ad ID)
- Device type, operating system version, and language
- IP address (used to infer approximate location)
- App usage signals for ad relevance and frequency capping
W3Park Technologies does not receive or store any of the data collected by AdMob. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy .
Third-Party Services
The only third-party service used by App Lock is Google AdMob for advertising, as described above. App Lock does not use any other analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or external services that transmit your personal data to a third party.
Data Collection and Sharing
W3Park Technologies does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal information. The app does not use your app list, settings, or usage patterns for advertising, analytics, or profiling of any kind. Data collected by Google AdMob is governed solely by Google's policies.
Data Retention and Deletion
All app data โ including settings, your protected app list, and any custom theme image โ remains on your device until you change or delete it, clear the app's storage, or uninstall App Lock. Removing a custom lock screen image within the app deletes its private local copy immediately. Uninstalling App Lock removes all local app data, following Android's standard uninstall behaviour.
Children's Privacy
App Lock is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children under the age of 13. W3Park Technologies does not knowingly collect personal information from children through this app. Google AdMob is configured to serve non-personalised ads only in contexts where a user may be a minor, in line with Google's Families Policy .
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes or when required by law or platform guidelines. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the date of the most recent update. Continued use of App Lock after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
